Setting Up a Data Feed in BoatWizard

A data feed allows you to automatically import your boat inventory into BoatWizard from your DMS (Dealer Management System), website provider, or other inventory management system.

Important: Inbound data feeds must be reviewed and approved by a Boats Group data specialist and follow our standard feed setup process. Please allow approximately three weeks for the feed setup process to be completed.

Step 1: Provide Your Feed Information

To initiate the setup process, reach out to your Account Manager with the following details:

  • Feed provider
  • All parties to be included in the feed

Step 2: Review the Technical Requirements

Your feed must follow the requirements outlined in the applicable BoatWizard feed documentation.

Review the documentation below for required fields, formatting guidelines, and examples:

Step 3: Verify Makes and Models

The make and model information in your feed must match approved makes and models in BoatWizard. Please see the approved makes and models in BoatWizard’s Boat Directory.

To see the Boat Directory, log in to BoatWizard and click into “Help Center” in the top navigation bar. Then select “Boat Directory.”

Important: Makes or models that are not approved may not import correctly.

If a make or model you need is not listed, you can submit a request to have it added to the Boat Directory page. Click on the “+Request Make/Model” button at the top right of the BoatWizard Boat Directory page.

Sending Sold Boats Through a Data Feed

If your system supports it, you can automatically update listings to Sold status via your feed. To ensure transactions are properly recorded in our SoldBoats database, ensure your feed provider maps the following required XML fields:

  • Date Sold: <SoldDate>yyyy-mm-dd</SoldDate>
  • Final Sold Price & Currency: <SoldPrice Currency="USD">00000</SoldPrice>
  • Sale Comments: <SoldComments>Sold to buyer</SoldComments>
  • Sale Type: <Saletype>W</Saletype>
